On the morning of August 16, 2025, at Room A.302, 27 Tan My Campus, Tan Thuan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, the Faculty of Public Management – Real Estate successfully held a seminar titled "Taxation and Tax Thinking in the New Era." The event aimed to create an academic platform where scholars, lecturers, students, and professionals in taxation and finance could share ideas and discuss tax policy reform trends amid digital transformation, globalization, and sustainable development.
In today's era of increasing international integration, taxation is not just a fiscal tool for the State but also a vital lever for driving economic growth, regulating markets, and guiding investment. A solid understanding and effective use of tax policies help businesses and individuals improve resources, stay compliant with laws, and use preferential mechanisms to boost competitiveness. Moreover, modern tax thinking goes beyond simply meeting fiscal obligations and moves toward adopting smart tax management strategies aligned with digital transformation, e-commerce, and sustainable development goals. This perspective serves as a "key" to connecting with global economic trends, proactively seizing opportunities, and reducing risks in business activities. To provide students and stakeholders in finance and taxation with proper guidance, practical knowledge, and current tax thinking, the Faculty of Public Management – Real Estate organized this seminar.
The seminar attracted the participation of a considerable number of students majoring in Taxation and Public Finance, together with students from related disciplines, including Accounting, Real Estate, Valuation, and Customs – Import and Export; the event was further enriched by the presence of lecturers from the Faculty of Public Management – Real Estate and other faculties within the university. Importantly, the seminar was honored to welcome Mr. Nguyen Trung Hoa, Head of Accounting Services and Tax Compliance, TMF Vietnam – a professional with over a decade of experience in auditing, finance, and tax consultancy, holding both a CPA qualification and a professional certificate in tax services.
The discussions during the seminar revolved around the broader landscape of tax policy within the framework of globalization and digital transformation, with a specific focus on predicted tax reforms in Viet Nam for the period 2025–2030, highlighting innovations in major tax laws. Additionally, the program examined modern tax thinking from multiple perspectives, underscoring the pivotal role of digital technology in tax administration, ranging from the application of artificial intelligence and big data analytics to the implementation of e-invoices and automated tax reporting systems. Particularly noteworthy was the group discussion session, which yielded the proposals for rethinking taxation in the new era, addressing issues such as the digital economy, ESG practices, and e-commerce.
The event conducted in a serious and well-structured manner, ensuring both academic rigor and contemporary relevance. Beyond providing students with valuable practical insights, the program contributed to fostering research-oriented thinking, encouraging proactivity and creativity in addressing taxation challenges in the digital age. The success of the seminar once again affirmed the Faculty of Public Management – Real Estate's commitment to cultivating a dynamic academic environment, integrating theory with practice, and supporting students in their journey toward professional and global integration./.
